Friday Roundup: July 31

vancouver style blogger 2020

Hi! It’s been a while since my last Friday Roundup and to be completely honest, for the most part, I didn’t do many exciting things! Just walks with Rowan, eating, seeing friends at the park, organizing the apartment, and keeping my sanity HA.

We did have my belated baby shower, you can see the post here with tons of photos. It was so nice to finally celebrate her!

Rowan also got to go to the pool finally and the beach! I also posted her four-month update, with photos and an update on me too. I love doing these every month, great to look back on. She just went for her four-month immunization shots yesterday, crazy to think four months have passed!

Since BC has opened up a little bit (and then everyone has forgotten we are still in a pandemic but I digress), Curtis and I have sat at a couple of patios early in the evening with Rowan. It’s been nice to feel “normal” again but what that is, I’m not sure of yet. I think just getting out as new parents make us feel put together and spend time out of the house. It’s nice to go early, fewer people and she gets that fresh air before bedtime.

We also had a date night, my sister babysat Rowan and we went to Cold Tea, a new dim sum place downtown. And also went to brunch at The Parlour, so yummy! Recommend both, the menus were great, love the vibes, and I had no idea either had so many great vegan options!

For August, we are going to Victoria for a couple of days, easy to get around with the baby and we haven’t been for a few years. Looking forward to escaping the city for once this summer. What a weird year! We booked an Airbnb, plan to get groceries and eat our sparingly, and just walk around. The plan is to also go to Butchart Gardens, I think Rowan will like looking at the plants.

Oh and big news, my brother is getting married this weekend and then moving to NYC for grad school! Also seeing Curtis’s mom, she hasn’t met Rowan yet, just came from SK, so she will meet her final grandparent this weekend. She has a busy social calendar lol. We still only see family members and close friends at a social distance. I only want a limited amount of people in my bubble and thankfully we only have so many friends, so it’s not hard to choose who. Strange times to have a baby, I feel like if it was any other time, we would have seen so many more people and friends and able to celebrate earlier! Also, it’s weird not having anyone over for BBQs except my family, we were looking forward to using our patio and entertaining in our new space, but I guess safety over socializing right?

What are your plans? Has anyone been away yet this summer?
