Rowan’s Third Month

Rowan's Three Month Update

We have now entered Rowan’s third month! I was looking at her baby book and making some updates and cannot believe she entered our lives just 12 weeks ago. Wow, time sure does fly by and especially during these weird times.

With the weather getting nicer, we’ve been trying to do more outdoor activities, like long walks around our neighbourhood, lunches at the park, sitting at a patio if it’s not busy. We hope to bring her to a warm lake this summer so she can dip her toes in the water and make some memories for her. Rowan adores bath time, loves car rides, playing on the floor either on her tummy or back, and overall an easy baby.

I’d say in the past three weeks she babbles so much every day, her little personality is starting to shine, let’s just say she takes after me so far haha. She knows what she wants that’s for sure! She loves to smile, tries to laugh and chats all through storytime haha. It’s like she wants to read it to you!

She did her first roll a week ago, and then two more followed right after. Since then, she tries to roll every day, some days she’s successful, some days not. And she really tries to crawl, grabs her blanket on the floor, and really tries to pull herself forward. Curtis also bought her a bumbo seat and she can sit up in it now, loves to whack at her toys on the play gym from it haha.

And she has now met almost everyone in her immediate family, just one aunt and uncle and my Nonno to meet soon and she’s all caught up! She just stares at everyone with awe and wonder, it’s too cute.

Rowan is now wearing her 3-6 month clothes, it’s a whole girly, summery wardrobe! She has so many fun rompers and dresses to wear this summer, I’m excited to dress her up! Her baby rolls are now here, she even has wrist rolls LOL. I love them, and her double baby chin. She really wants to stand, loves to push up on her feet, and hates lying down.

Someone also had her two-month shots, met her pediatrician (who is lovely), and had just gone through her 4th leap. If you are a new mom or one to be, download the Wonder Weeks App, so handy! She took her shots like a champ, felt really bad for her during it, but I know it’s for the best. I’m proud to say I didn’t shed a tear, but she sure did poor thing.

Overall, I’m feeling bittersweet about her becoming three months old and leaving behind all her newborn stages. It’s great to see her progressing but also really sad to see her grow so fast. Lately, she loves to be in a happy baby pose, and we find her in her bassinet cooing in the morning, it’s just so cute. It brings me so much pure, unfiltered joy to wake up every morning to a smiling face cooing at me, so innocently.

Our current schedule with Rowan right now is:
5 AM: Wake up for a feed, a diaper change, she then goes back down for another short sleep
7 AM: Wake up and feed
7-9 AM: Hang out, tummy time, developmental activities, mom tries to eat and drink a hot beverage haha
9 AM-7 PM: We try to have a nap every two hours and get outside if it’s nice out
7 PM: Bath time every 2 days
8 PM: Feed and storytime
9 PM: Go down for an 8-hour sleep, lights are turned off, white noise machine goes on

Mommy Update

I’m still breastfeeding and pumping bottles for Curtis to feed and for just us being out. Easier than whipping out the nipple shield in public. This past week I had a phone call with a doctor who specializes in breastfeeding since I got no advice from the lactation consultant at the hospital and really felt like maybe I was doing some bits wrong. Which apparently I am, so I switched from a Haaka shield to the Medela one now and made an appointment to see her in person. I just want someone to look at how I position her and get advice. Mostly reassurance because she does eat a lot whether it’s from my breast or bottle. I hate quitting and want to make it to at least 6 months or when she starts eating solids.

Curtis is starting to go back to work 5 days a week, which means I’m at home with her alone for long 10 hour days. Some are easy, some are really hard if she’s fussy. She’s not the best napper lately, I think she suffers from baby FOMO haha. We are working on her being more on a sleep schedule since she is more active during the day. It’s starting to work I think, which gives me more time during the day to myself. I’m hoping to start working out at home, do more writing here on the blog and I would love time to bake!

Despite everything going on in the world, I do want to make this a memorable summer for her! Hoping we do get to do a weekend trip in BC, they just opened it up to Phase 3 which means we can visit other parts of the province!

P.S. If you missed it, here are her second and first-month updates!
