Nutella Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts

Nutella Stuffed Puff Pastry Hearts

Nutella Strawberry Puff Pastry HeartsI wanted to make a recipe for Valentine’s Day. One that can be made for this holiday or adjusted to make all year. It’s a simple, easy recipe that produces these cute little fun treats. My mom helped me bake these Nutella Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts a couple of weekend’s ago (same day as my No-bake Nutella Cheesecake). It was an indulgent weekend!

Nutella is a favourite in my house, it doesn’t last very long and potentially could be the flavour for our wedding cake or Curtis’s individual cake haha. It goes so well in many recipes like brownies, cakes, milkshakes, nutella lattes, hot chocolate and more!

The leftovers of these were a big hit at my office and at home. You could use any berries for on top, choose any shape for the tarts, but I think the hearts are really cute and a nice touch. It was really hard not to eat all of these plus the cheesecake, plus the blood orange chips (coming soon!) and the queso fundido dip I made that day (also coming soon!). At the end of that weekend, I felt like you had to roll me home I was stuffed!

Does anyone have any favourite Nutella recipes? Or recipes for Valentine’s Day sweets?

Ingredients

  • 1 box frozen puff pastry thawed in fridge
  • 1-2 cups Nutella
  • 4 tbsp berry sugar for dusting
  • 1 pint strawberries sliced
  • 5 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425F.
  2. Dust flour on surface.
  3. Roll out thawed dough. to 1/4 inch thickness.
  4. Cut out heart shapes with cookie cutter or freehand by knife.
  5. Mark a border about 1/2? inside, not cutting the pastry right through. You can either do this with a smaller heart cookie cutter or again with a knife,
  6. This will allow for the edges to puff up.
  7. Spread Nutella in the middle with a spoon or offset spatula (You can also do this after baking instead, it's a personal preference)
  8. Brush on milk around the edges. Then sprinkle heart shapes with sugar.
  9. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool slightly, than place sliced strawberries on top.
  11. Drizzle with melted Nutella.
  12. You can also dust with powdered sugar.
