Summer Beach Waves

In the summer season, I prefer to minimize my beauty routine and styling my hair. I look for casual, low maintenance options. The beach wave look is an optimal choice; it’s easy to produce and looks great on anyone. I have fine hair and I find it also adds a bit of volume and texture to it while eliminating the frizz from humidity (BONUS!). Having layers in your hair also contributes to the easiness of the beach wave look, otherwise the look falls flat.

Wait until your hair is halfway dry (you can use a blow-dryer it if you’re in a hurry, but I recommend air-drying especially in the hot weather). Twirl small sections of hair together to start a wave pattern, and then spray on a product like the ones below from your roots to the middle. Let the product soak in, and then use a blow-dryer for a couple of minutes. Wrap sections of hair around your fingers to encourage the waves to come out. Remember, don’t brush your hair, only twirl and scrunch it.

I’ve put together a few products that provide results and are easy to use. I personally use the Kevin Murphy spray and really love the texture it gives my hair. The bonus is that it smells like coconuts, a perfect scent for summer!
