Palm Springs Guide – Where to Shop

el paseo

Palm Springs offers a variety of shopping from vintage clothing, mid-century furniture, designer goods and outlet malls. Below are a few of my favourite spots to shop.

El Paseo
El Paseo is a designer area and street, it offers high end stores from St. John’s to Prada, department store Saks 5th Avenue, and brands like New Balance and Sephora. It is known as the Rodeo Drive of Palm Springs. There are restaurants that also line the street from sushi to italian. If anything, grab a coffee and people watch.

Desert Hills Premium Outlets
These outlets are located in Cabazon, approximately a 20 minute drive from Palm Springs. Cabazon is also where the World Biggest Dinosaurs are and an In & Out Burger. It offers around 200 stores from Alexander McQueen to JCrew. I recommend going in the morning or evenings and if possible avoid the weekends when residents of Los Angeles and other surrounding areas come to shop.

Uptown Design District
This area is located the far end of North Palm Canyon Drive. It has a variety of mid-century modern furniture stores (Just Modern, Christopher Anthony), art galleries (my favourite is Shag), vintage clothing and restaurants. There is also a Trina Turk store, and a couple of high-design concept stores too. After shopping, dine at one of my choices Workshop Kitchen and Bar.

Palm Canyon Drive
Not really a shopping haven, but there are a few good stores along the way. We always visit Greetings, a gift and card shop. I can never leave Diane’s Beachwear empty handed, great designer swimsuits and accessories. Before leaving, stock up on sweets at See’s Candies.

Backstreet Art District
This area off of Hwy 111 is really cool; artists have set up studios here showcasing their art. From sculptures, paintings, jewelry, ceramics, you name it, it is here. There is an Art walk every first Wednesday of the month, and you can tour their studios with them.

Sunny Dunes Antique Mall
This spot is full of antiques and I dare you to walk out empty handed. The prices run from reasonable to very expensive but it’s all about what you buy.

Vintage Market
This takes place on Sundays from November to April in Downtown Palm Springs. It’s not too crowded; and there are many treasures to be found.

Dazzles
This funky store offers vintage jewelery and other home items in a cool old motel. Who doesn’t love vintage pink flamingos?

Westfield Mall
The mall includes many stores such as a Macy’s and Forever 21. I prefer when I’m in Palm Springs to shop outside though.

Have you been to Palm Springs? Where are your favourites places to shop?

Enjoy! xo
